martyr - /ˈmɑrtər/[mahr-ter]
from the greek word μάρτυς, mártys, "witness".
i have this friend who is into serious horror/gore flix. seriously into them.
he's given a few to me over the last year, and if i'm feeling up for it, i try to watch some of them.
some are cheesy gore like 'bad taste' and 'machine girl'.
some are really good and gory, and have pretty decent story lines like 'eden lake' and 'high tension'.
some ruin me for months. see 'inside'.
damaged me.
you don't even know.
i watched another one tonight that falls into the latter of the groupings.
a serious headfuck.
it's called 'martyrs'.
it starts as a good psychological gruesome horror type deal, but the last half of the movie unfolds into such a twisted, messed up mystery horror headscramble that is so unbelievably believable.......shit.
its got my head so twisted in on itself right now i'm not sure what the hell is going on.
how the hell do people come up with these ideas? what has to happen to someone to have them one day say, "hey, i've got this crazy idea for a film....."??????
if anyone who reads this is even somewhat into these kind of movies, please watch it. i'd really like to know what the hell you thought of it or what it did to yr head.
damn you, joe and yr neverending supply of the headfuck.
eff.........
